I haven't been blogging quite as often as usual because most of our updates have moved to a more immediate release by means of Twitter and Facebook, but this short post was going to be a little much for a Tweet.
As much as I like King's work this antelope is a wee bit over kill. The buck "only" scores 91 and change, but this buck in the photo looks to easily score over 100. I personally have never seen a buck this big alive. I think King did a fine job with the recreation otherwise, but just remember when you're gawking at this thing on your wall - this is not a 91" buck, it's more like a 101" buck, so when you never see anything like it alive, don't worry too much... I pulled this photo from some video taken with our Sony HDR SR12 through a Swarovski 20-60x60. It wasn't one of the clearest shots in the video, but it was a screen capture that made the buck look absolutely silly! If I hadn't personally taken the video I'd have thought it was Photoshopped.
We've been trying to keep new videos and photos coming to the website, our Facebook Fan Page, and our YouTube Channel. Be sure to check them out! And to join in on the guessing games that will occasionally be posted be sure to check out either On Your Own Adventures Forum or The Arizona Hunter Forum.
We hear and chase rumors all the time. This year is no exception! Being involved in a record number of auction tags will keep us chasing rumors this year more than ever before. The two hunters with Arizona auction tags last year did not kill and will need to harvest their bucks before August 15th. The two who bought this years tags will be able to hunt from August 15th until the next season begins. So, effectively, we're scouting for 4 GIANT bucks to take this season - a season in which it may be tough to find great bucks because of how cold it was up north all winter.
If you have any rumors or know of any giants drop us a line through our Contact page or email or even Facebook. No rumor is too far fetched for us to give it a look! The buck above we took with Mike Gallo last year in New Mexico. We were sent into this area to chase a rumor of a giant. We never located the giant, but we did locate this particular buck that turned out to be over 90 inches! Our third scout was a great one! The only two blemishes during this trip were the lack of clouds as it was over 100 degrees several of the days and we were unable to find one particular buck we were looking for. We saw several mid-80's bucks and maybe a couple that will reach that 90" mark in another month or two. Hopefully the rest of our scouts are as good as the first few - and if we can add a few clouds I could probably get some really nice photos of some giants this year!
I've added photos and videos to the 2010 pages of each so be sure to check those out! Also, if you're not yet a fan of our Facebook Fanpage go check it out. It's pretty cool. We're heading up north tomorrow morning for just our second trip of the season. We probably won't have another week without a trip until October from here on out though. I'll continue to try to post pics as I take them this year on our site, our Fan Page, and on the hunting forums I visit so keep your eyes peeled and hopefully we'll have some photos worth drooling over!
